200 proof (≥99.7% ABV), pure ethyl alcohol with zero additives. This perfumers alcohol base provides a clean, neutral solvent for fragrance creation and formulation when clarity and performance matter.
Ideal for makers who need a reliable, high-proof alcohol to dissolve aromatic materials, botanical extracts, or fragrance concentrates for perfume blending and related applications. This product contains no denaturants or unnecessary additives that can interfere with scent clarity or evaporation performance.
This perfumers alcohol base is commonly selected for:
Using a high-proof base allows you to control dilution and finish in your formulations while minimizing unintended scent distortion.
Starting with a pure 200 proof base gives you maximum flexibility to tailor your blends and final products.
Many perfumer’s alcohol products on the market are denatured with additives that make them unfit for ingestion or that alter solvent characteristics. This product contains only pure ethanol with no additives, giving you a starting solvent that supports clean, predictable blending.
This alcohol is sold as a high-purity solvent for fragrance and aromatic formulation. It is not intended for recreational consumption. Due to its high proof, proper handling, storage, and local regulatory compliance are recommended. Always dilute appropriately for your specific application.

Scott,
Thank you so much for your professional approach, excellent product and attention to customers!
Some time ago I made my first purchase from the Culinary Solvent online store.
I spent quite a long time choosing and searching for options. Not for drinking alcohol (that's a completely different story, of course) but for technical, chemical, and medical purposes. For this I needed just pure substance, and I can’t stand the various additives that remain during the production process or are added intentionally as needed in the vast majority of products from others. And here I liked the open description of the process that was exactly what I needed. So I decided to try.
The package was received on schedule without any problems. And I'm really impressed with its content. Both the packaging and the completeness were of the highest level of care, and not only with expertise, but also, I would say, with love. It was really nice to receive such a parcel!
But the main thing, of course, is the product itself. As an experimental physicist by profession, I am used to being skeptical of advertising and promises and trusting more in the results of my own experience. So, the first thing I did was test for the presence of dissolved non-volatile impurities, assuming this alcohol would be used to clean optical surfaces. This is a very simple and quick "drying drop" test on a mirror. I was very pleased with the result: if there were any barely perceptible traces, then in any case, they were at least an order of magnitude less than in the common steam-distilled water sold in retail chains like Walmart! I haven't tried, however, to analyze the composition of the volatile impurities which is much more complicated, but so far I'm completely satisfied with everything.
If it weren't for the significant increase in cost due to shipping for small quantities, I would probably order this more often as the most convenient way to use.

Both Everclear and Culianry Solvent are pure ethyl alcohol products, but the similarities end there. View our breakdown to understand the benefits to choosing pure 200 proof food grade ethanol for herbal tinctures.
Most people believe 200 proof is impossible to produce without dangerous chemicals, or that it will return to 190 proof immediately. Not true. Learn more about 200 proof alcohol for tinctures.
Not all alcohol is created equally. Non-denatured ethyl alcohol (aka ethanol) contains zero additives and is the safest alcohol for application to the skin or body. Avoid alcohols labeled "denatured" including SDA40b and never use isopropyl alcohol or methanol for homemade perfume recipes.
No, 80-proof vodka contains 60% water which is not recommended for homemade perfume recipes. The high percentage of water in 80 proof vodka or other spirits will inhibit miscibility of the fragrance oils as well as affect evaporation of your homemade perfume.
Both Culinary Solvent and Everclear contain only ethyl alcohol, but the differences end there. Culinary Solvent is 200 proof where Everclear is capped at 190 proof. Culinary Solvent is available in USDA Certified Organic and sizes from pints to 55-gallon drums, where Everclear is not available in organic and maximum size available is 59 fl oz (1.75L).
