New England residents in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, and New York are able to choose to pick up their order of Culinary Solvent in-person at The Northern Maine Distilling Company distillery in Brewer, Maine.  While we do not operate a retail store at the distillery location in Brewer, local customers are able to make appointments for picking up their order after checking out through our online store.

How to Choose the "Pickup Appointment" Option at Checkout

Orders can be scheduled for pickup by selecting “Pickup Appointment At Distillery” as one of the presented shipping options at checkout. If you do not see an option for "Pickup Appointment" as a shipping option, see FAQ's below.

  1. Browse our collections to choose your ethanol product.  Add to cart and proceed to checkout.
  2. Enter your shipping address located in either ME, NH, VT, MA, or NY.  Even though you are picking up your order, we still need your shipping address for the paperwork that will accompany your order. 
  3. Select "Pickup Appointment At Distillery" as your shipping method option.  There is no charge for scheduling an order pickup at the distillery.
  4. Enter your payment information into the payment window screen and complete your order.  
  5. Check your email for more instructions on how to schedule your pickup order appointment using our online calendar at https://calendly.com/culinarysolvent .

Scheduling Your Appointment

After you have placed your order, you will receive instructions via email for scheduling your pickup appointment.  Allow one business day (Monday through Friday, excluding holidays) for your order to be fulfilled and prepared for pickup.  Please contact us if you don’t receive an email to schedule your appointment or to confirm availability before placing an order. 

Getting to the Distillery

Our physical address is 55 Baker Blvd., Brewer, Maine 04412.

If you enter our address into Google Maps, Apple Maps, or any other navigating application, the directions should bring you to the front of our building, which has a large flagpole in front of it.  The entrance is a glass door.  Look for our doorbell and sign to the right of the glass door outside (our doorbell is only accessible from the exterior of the building).  Press the doorbell button when you arrive, and we will be out momentarily to assist you.

If the weather is inclement, call our office number, 207-974-3055, from your vehicle so we know you have arrived.

Driving Directions

Directions from the North

Take I95 South to exit 182-A for I395 east.  Take I395 east to exit 4.  Stay to the right of the off ramp and merge onto Main St.  Stay to the right of Main St. and take the second right onto East-West Industrial Blvd. (at the Irving office).  Follow the road over the railroad tracks and past the bend to the left.  After the bend, the road becomes Baker Blvd.  Our driveway is the first turn on the left; you will see signs for "SnapSpace" and "Compotech.”  Park in the lot nearest to the building for your pickup.

Directions from the South

Directions from the Coast

Take Rt 1 to Rt 1A toward Bangor.  Take I395 west to exit 4.  Stay to the right of the off ramp and merge onto Main St.  Stay to the right of Main St and take the second right onto East-West Industrial Blvd (at the Irving office).  Follow the road over the railroad tracks and past the bend to the left.  After the bend, the road becomes Baker Blvd.  Our driveway is the first turn on the left, you will see signs for "SnapSpace" and "Compotech.”  Park in the lot nearest to the building for your pickup.

Arrival Instructions

  • Ensure you have received an appointment confirmation email prior to making your way to the distillery for your pickup appointment. 
  • Park in any available spot when you arrive. 
  • Let us know you are here by pressing our Ring doorbell, calling 207-974-3055, emailing us, or using the webchat.  We will be looking for you as well as your appointment time nears.
  • If you are early or going to be late, please reach out to update us whenever is safe to do so.  We will do our best to accommodate the new arrival time.
  • Please bring your order confirmation sent via email after you place your order and government issued photo ID to your appointment.

Shipping FAQs

Pickup at distillery options are only presented to customers who enter a shipping address in either Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, or New York.  If you are visiting Maine from away and want to pick up an order while nearby, contact us using the online chat or landline 207-974-3055 and we will assist setting up your order personally.

Yes, 1000 lbs or just over 151 gallons. DOT rules prohibit loads of over 1000 lbs of flammable liquids in passenger vehicles. We reserve the right to ensure load and transport safety and will refuse loading product into vehicles that do not meet safety or load capacity standards.  That said, 40 gallons packed in 5-gallon jugs easily fits into an economy hatchback with comfortable room for 3 additional passengers.

Please bring your government issued photo id showing date of birth over 21.

Yes.  While we do not currently operate a retail location at the distillery, we do offer customer pickup appointments by availability for all sizes.  Choose "Pickup Appointment at Distillery" as your shipping option at checkout and follow the directions in your order confirmation email to schedule your preferred pickup time.

No permits are required, however due to the rules and regulations governing the sale and shipment of food grade ethanol, customers requesting a pickup appointment must reside in a state we are allowed to ship to.  See our map with permit requirements for more information.  

Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate changes (i.e., changes to the amount of alcohol ordered or the type, such as proof or organic or non-organic) to your order at your pickup appointment.  Please make any change requests in advance of the pickup appointment time by replying to the confirmation email.

Yes.  Please reply to your order confirmation email to request changes to your pickup appointment time.

If you are interested in paying with cash for your bulk order at time of pickup, please contact us prior to placing your order to make special pickup appointment arrangements.

We are available for pickup appointments Monday through Friday between 9:30 AM and 4:00 PM. We are closed on weekends and Federal holidays.

We ask for 1 day to prepare your order for pickup. Typically, we are able to handle special requests for same day pickup, please call our office 207-974-3055 to confirm availability before placing your order.
