Unfortunately, we (a distillery) are not permitted by law to sell 140 proof alcohol in this bottle size. Please read more to understand why, and what we can do.
Honestly, this isn't some clever move to get you to buy more. Rules are rules, and according to Federal Regulations 27 CFR 1.71 ethanol under 200 proof cannot be offered for non-beverage use unless bottled in units larger than 1 gallon.
What about COVID-19? Yes, even with the COV-19 special provisions put in place for distilleries, we are limited to a bottle size of 5 gallons.
Why? Because we do not / will not / refuse to denature any of our ethanol anywhere in our distillery. All of our ethanol is pure, non-denatured, and for that reason we still have to charge the Federal Excise tax and abide by all of the rules that were in place pre-public health declaration.
A more detailed explanation on this limitation is provided on our blog post "Can I buy quarts and gallons of 190 proof ethanol. Stay well. -Scott (Mr.Tincture)
