What does shipping something "HazMat" mean?

The transportation of certain chemicals, including food grade ethanol, is regulated by the US Department of Transportation (DOT).  Chemicals regulated for transport are called "Hazardous Materials" or HazMat for short.  A list of chemicals is provided by the DOT for quick reference.

Accordingly, under certain situations, Culinary Solvent must be shipped labeled as HazMat.  Items labeled as HazMat vary wildly in their potential to cause harm if not handled properly.
