Note: New York customers must email an approved permit along with the product and quantity you wish to purchase. We will then generate an invoice in reply with instructions on how to pay for your order.

Where to find your New York Ethanol Permit 

In order to purchase food grade ethanol as a resident in New York, you must have a permit.  Begin by e-mailing the New York State Liquor Authority (NYSLA) with a description of the ethanol you wish to purchase, including estimated annual quantities and a brief description of the intended use (tinctures, extracts, food preparation, etc.).  You will receive an email reply pointing you to the specific permit you must complete.  This step will ensure that you complete the correct application the first time, avoiding unnecessary waiting and fees.

Once you know which permit you need, you can apply for it with New York's licensing system online at https://mylicense.sla.ny.gov/Login.

Steps to Complete Your Form

Step 1: Go to businessexpress.ny.gov and search for the "Industrial Alcohol License" or click this link: Industrial Alcohol Permit (3 years). Then click the "Apply Online" button.

Step 2: Create an SLA account and log into the licensing center. Once you have done so proceed to start the application. It begins with adding your business to your account:

Step 3: Once your business has been added continue to follow the steps to complete the application.

Step 4: You will receive an approval or denial via email.  Log into your account on https://aca.licensecenter.ny.gov/aca/default.aspx to manage your licenses and permits.  Allow one to two weeks for processing.  If it has been two weeks and you have not yet received a response, inquiries can be made to (518) 453-8130, Monday through Friday, from 8:30am to 4:30pm Eastern Time.

If there is a problem with your application, you will receive an email detailing the issue and suggested corrective measures.

Step 5:  Email your approved permit to service@culinarysolvent.com and include the quantity and type of food grade ethanol you need. We will then generate an invoice and send it to the email address that you sent your approved permit from.
