The Food Chemical Codex (F.C.C.) is a collection of standards used to verify the characteristics and purity of food ingredients.  The F.C.C. was originally published by the Institute of Medicine from 1966 until 2006. In August 2006, the F.C.C. publication was assumed by USP.  USP is a nonprofit, science based, non-governmental, standards setting organization with a mission to improve global health through setting public standards for safety and quality.
